Malaya Goswami did her graduation from Handique Girls College in Assam and post-graduation from Guwahati University. Malaya Goswami was very much active during her college days and she also got selected for the first women’s hockey team from Assam. After her education, Malaya Goswami took up teaching as her profession and started out working initially in Sonari College and later joined Jagiroad College in 1983. Malaya Goswami is however better known for her acting capability and is considered to be an most accomplished actress in the parallel cinema of the state of Assam. Her debut film was ‘Agnisnaan’ in 1987. In the year 1992, for her film ‘Firingoti’ earned her the most prestigious National ‘Rajat Kamal’ award for Best Actress. After these movies, she has acted in more than 10 movies. She was also awarded the ‘Joymoti Award’ and also ‘Best TV Actress’ for the TV serial ‘Writu Ahe Writu Jai’. Her combination of experience both in education and art has made her one of most distinguished educationist and artist from the state of Assam.
